9:00 – 11:00AM – Le Corbusier’s Unité d’ habitation private guided tour
In 1953 as part of the Interbau International Building Exhibition, new types of buildings were designed to eliminate the acute post-war housing shortage. International architects of the calibre of Oscar Niemeyer, Arne Jakobsen, Alvar Aalto, Pierre Vago and Walter Gropius wanted to revive the building tradition of the 1920s. The Swiss architect Corbusier, who had previously completed unités d’habitation (residential units) in Marseille (1947-1952) and Nantes-Rezé (1953-1955), was also involved, creating the design for the new unité d’habitation, Berlin style.
Due to the size of the new residential complex, the “olympischer Hügel” (Olympic Hill) next to the Olympic Stadium on the edge of Grunewald Forest was selected as the site.
In small groups, our art lovers will be able to discover the exterior and interior common places incl. the showroom-apartment with experts. They will get information about the building construction of the Unit Berlin in relation to Unit d’Habitation in Marseille.
11:00 – 11:45AM – Olympiastadion discovery (from outside)
Next to the Corbusier’s building is located the Olympiastadion. When the Nazis came to power in Germany in 1933, they decided to use the Olympic Games in 1936 for propaganda purposes. With this in mind, Hitler made plans for the construction of a great sports complex in Grunewald named the ‘’Reichssportfeld’’, with a brand-new Olympiastadion as its centerpiece. Architect Werner March remained in charge of the project, assisted by his brother Walter March.
A private tour inside the Olympiastadion is possible but due to lack of time, we offer to plan a last visit at the Brohan museum.
12:00 – 1:30PM – Free Lunch
2:00 – 3:30PM –Bröhan Museum private guided tour
The Bröhan Museum is a Berlin state museum for Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Functionalism, located in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district. The Museum is named after its founder, entrepreneur and art collector Karl. H. Bröhan (1921–2000), who donated his collection to the state of Berlin on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
Bröhan-Museum has a unique collection of art nouveau, art deco, and the art of the Berlin Secession. At the same time, the museum seeks to explore the contemporary relevance of the issues that shaped the history of art and design during the twentieth century.
We hope, with this last visit to please our art lovers’ guests as much as possible.

It will be near the Wannsee conference and the Villa Liebermann.
Our Tour Guide will explain our guests about the Wannsee conference and its role during the 2nd World War.
2:30 – 3:30PM – Discovery of the Max Liebermann Villa
In 1909 the artist Max Liebermann instructed his architect Paul Otto Baumgarten to build him a summer house on the banks of Berlin’s Lake Wannsee. The resulting villa provided a summer retreat for the Liebermann family up until the death of the artist in 1935. The garden at Wannsee – designed by the artist together with the Hamburg Museum director Alfred Lichtwark – was an expression of the emerging “reform garden” movement, with its straight pathways, neat divisions and structural use of hedging. The garden was also an important source of inspiration for the artist, who completed over 200 oil paintings exploring its many facets.
The villa contains a permanent exhibition of Liebermann’s paintings and drawings, which focuses on the works he created at Wannsee. With a walk through the fully-reconstructed garden, visitors can enjoy for themselves the scenery so inspirational to the artist. The villa also hosts regular special exhibitions dedicated to Liebermann and his contemporaries, and contains a documentary exhibition exploring the history of the Liebermann family.
